Due to the pandemic, we were sadly not able to host the Midkiff Challenge in 2020, but we hope the game will return in the future. We ask for donations using the link below. As our main source of fundraising for our annual scholarships is the Midkiff Challenge, we are unlikely to be able to offer scholarships in 2021 without your support. We (and the students of Parkwood High School) thank you for your generosity! |
Welcome to the official site of the Midkiff Challenge Foundation, dedicated to supporting academics and athletics
among the Parkwood Community and promoting the annual Midkiff Challenge fundraiser, a tribute game in memory of Joey
Midkiff, Parkwood High School Class of 1993, who lost his life September 7, 1999.
The first annual Midkiff Challenge was held as one of the main events of the 10-year reunion for the class of 1992,
many of whom have known and/or played soccer with Joey most of their lives. Because of the overwhelming response, and
the enthusiasm in the community for the event, it has been held every year since then, except for 2005 when there was
a scheduling conflict. The dates of the games in order have been:
August 8, 2003 October 15, 2004 August 18, 2006 August 11, 2007 August 9, 2008 August 15, 2009 August 7, 2010 August 20, 2011 August 17, 2012 August 17, 2013 August 23, 2014 August 15, 2015 August 13, 2016 August 12, 2017 August 11, 2018 August 17, 2019 August 2020 CANCELLED The next annual Midkiff Challenge game will be held when possible and will be posted on this web page and The Midkiff Challenge Foundation Facebook Page. Your support of this game helps our community, Parkwood High School, and the Parkwood athletic program, and provides annual scholarships to graduating Parkwood High School Seniors. The Midkiff Challenge pairs Parkwood High School varsity soccer alumni against the current varsity soccer team. If you are interested in helping out at the Midkiff Challenge, or are interested in playing, please contact The Midkiff Challenge Foundation. The only qualification for players is that you be a former soccer player from the Parkwood Community, with a preference for those who graduated from Parkwood High School at least five years ago (occasionally exceptions are made). |
